strip#31 concentration

Concentration is so hard to find and so easy to lose.

How do you ace a job application or a skills test when your home is one giant landmine of distractions? : )

Well, there’s no universal answer to this question since you can’t possibly account for every single thing that will head your way – random visitors, dreadful critters and beloved peeps showing unannounced…

But when you struggle to get a razor-sharp focus, try this:

  • Before you begin the important task: Sit down comfortably and breathe deeply into your stomach for 1-2 minutes. This should help you calm down a bit.
  • Eliminate off all the disruptors. Close chat apps, email, and social media. Take your phone to another room. Put on the earphones if it’s noisy outside. You can stream lounge music or white noise.
  • Make a cup of brew to sip. Coffee is scientifically proven to arouse your brain, making you less prone to distractions. It also increases your attention span during demanding mental work.
  • Adjust your thermostat. Again, scientists found that people make fewer mistakes are more productive when the temperature is between 68-77°F (20-25°C).
